Andrew Bentley

Deputy Commissioner

Andrew Bentley serves as deputy commissioner at Minnesota Management and Budget, overseeing the Planning and Policy Division. The division coordinates cross-agency planning, strategy, and policy analysis around core long-term challenges and opportunities facing Minnesota.

Previously he worked at the Harvard Kennedy School Government Performance Lab, a hybrid research and policy implementation organization run out of Harvard University. He led teams working on issues such as community safety and economic mobility for several local governments, including Saint Paul. He spent 10 years at Google in the United States and South America in sales and corporate social responsibility to build digital inclusion and get families online in their homes. He is a co-founder of Global Health Corps, a nonprofit that has trained and mobilized more than 1,200 health equity leaders in Sub Saharan Africa and the United States. He pitched a public benefit corporation startup, with a mission to inspire new fathers to be active and attentive parents, on ABC's Shark Tank.

Andrew received an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School, where he was a Presidential Scholar and received the Robert F. Kennedy Award, one of the most prestigious honors given to a graduate. He was a Transition Term Fellow where he led a team of five students to provide policy and program analysis during Steven Reed’s mayoral transition in Montgomery, AL. He obtained a BS in journalism and a minor in political science from Northwestern University.
