Cameron Smither

Senior Management Consultant

Cameron joined the MAD team in May 2025. Prior to MAD, he was a non-profit management consultant at Matter + Form serving clients at the intersection of financial sustainability and mission impact. His work included business planning and implementation, program design and pricing, and developing processes and tools for financial analysis. Before that, Cameron helped lead institutional transformation efforts as the Director of Assessment & Network Engagement at the American Association for State Colleges & Universities (AASCU) and as a researcher at the American Institutes for Research. He is experienced in quantitative and qualitative methods, loves whiteboarding, and doesn’t take himself too seriously.

Consulting focus

Cameron likes grappling with most interesting problems but concentrates on projects that connect finance, programs and services, and the voice of the customer. He believes that programs and services must create value for people, financial clarity enables decision-making that boosts that value, and that everyone can be a financial leader with the right information! Cameron is skilled in helping teams make use of all kinds of data to understand their current state, prioritize among competing future directions, and develop a roadmap for the future that bridges strategy and tactics. Though his academic training is in policy analysis, he loves action-oriented slidedecks and visuals just a little more than lengthy reports and tables.
