Federal Funds Technical Assistance

Minnesota’s Federal Funds Implementation Team (FFIT) is offering free technical assistance to help maximize federal funding in the State of Minnesota and to help federal funding recipients effectively and responsibly manage their federal funds. Free technical assistance is available to entities that operate in Minnesota and serve Minnesota residents.

Who is eligible for free technical assistance?

The technical assistance services offered by the FFIT are available for entities that operate in Minnesota and serve Minnesota Residents. Minnesota entities include:
 
  • Businesses
  • Local Units of Government
  • Nonprofits
  • State Agencies
  • Tribal Nations

Federal Grant Readiness

The FFIT can guide you through baseline readiness assessments, funding strategy development, and train your staff how to navigate federal databases and structures. You can view an example of a federal grant readiness assessment by clicking the link below:
 

Federal Pre-Award Development

The FFIT can support research on potential funding opportunities that fit your organization’s needs (filling funding gaps, conducting planning, etc.), help assess your organization’s eligibility for specific funding opportunities, and review application components. FFIT staff cannot act as grant writers or submit applications on your organization's behalf. Federal Award Management: Best Practices

The FFIT can help your organization establish procedures that comply with communication, documentation, reporting and other grant management practices based on your specific terms and conditions and on federal guidance. FFIT staff cannot submit reporting on your organization's behalf or provide legal advice.


Free Group Trainings

FFIT staff are available to give beginner federal funds trainings, and/or more focused trainings on grant readiness best practices and federal award management. Depending on your organization’s or convening’s needs and on the training topic(s), trainings can be designed for 15- to 60-minute time blocks.

  • The Federal Funds Implementation Team operates with limited capacity and their support is subject to availability, alignment with state priorities, and the time required to fulfill the request. 
  • The Federal Funds Implementation Team cannot guarantee successful funding as a result of consultation or services. 
  • The Federal Funds Implementation Team is offering these services on a consultative basis and will not complete work on the entity's behalf. 
  • Entities must only provide the Federal Funds Implementation Team with publicly available data throughout the engagement process.
