Erica Klein joined MAD in 2017, bringing skills and experience that include organization development, employee selection and assessment, facilitation, mediation, change management, technology implementation, and organization redesign.
Erica has experience in both the public and private sector. Prior to joining MAD, she worked for Hennepin County, Jefferson County (Alabama), Minnesota Department of Transportation, and several private-sector organizations, including Personnel Decisions International (PDI) and Infor. At Hennepin County, where Erica was an organization development consultant, her projects included an engagement survey and follow-up action planning with the public works department, business process redesign for the elections department, change management for combining six social services departments into one, as well as team building retreats, conflict mediations, and group facilitations for many county departments. At Infor, Erica’s consulting work focused on implementing strategic talent management processes, including employee performance management, goal management, succession management, and integrated competency architectures that follow the talent lifecycle.
After Erica got her MBA she worked as a consultant for Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) and found she loved the idea of project-based work, identifying problems, and shaping and implementing solutions. In her work at MAD, she focuses on organization assessments, organization design, human resources and IT projects, and succession planning.
Since joining MAD, Erica has worked on projects with the Minnesota Departments of Revenue, Human Services, Health, Labor and Industry, and Corrections, Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board, Minnesota Council on Disability, Minnesota Commission of the Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing, Minnesota IT Services, Minnesota Management and Budget, Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST), Metropolitan Council, City of Ham Lake, Minnesota State Academies, Minnesota Office of Higher Education, and Minnesota Workers’ Compensation Court of Appeals. Erica particularly enjoys working on organization assessments—looking at organization structure, work environment, and team dynamics—and projects that touch on human resources such as building a team, finding a new leader, assessing individual performance, or reshaping roles.
Erica has a PhD in industrial organizational psychology from University of Houston, an MBA from University of Pittsburgh, and a bachelor’s degree in public policy and management from Carnegie Mellon University.
