Steps for Submitting a Direct Request
Step 1:
Submit Your Request
Project owner reviews the requirements checklist and submits the request form to MMB.
Step 2:
MMB Reviews Your Project
MMB reviews the request information, follows up with the project owner if needed, and shares the information with the Governor’s Office and House and Senate Capital Investment Committee capital budget staff. Note that submitting a request form does not guarantee consideration in the capital budget bill.
Step 3:
Work with Your State Legislators
Project owner works with a state legislator to introduce a bill to fund the request and advocate for it to be considered in the legislative process. MMB is available as a resource if there are any language questions.
Step 4:
Track Capital Investment Bill
The project may or may not be included in an enacted capital investment bill. A capital investment bill is often among the last bills to be enacted at the end of the legislative session. Session may also end without final passage of a capital investment bill.
Step 5:
Work with Your Assigned State Agency
If the project is included in the enacted capital investment bill, MMB and the granting agency assigned in the capital investment bill reach out to the project owner (grantee) with next steps in the following weeks.
Step 6:
Enter into a Grant Agreement
Project owner (grantee) enters into a grant agreement with the granting agency and meets any requirements, including full funding.
Step 7:
Receive Your Funds
Granting agency releases funds to the project owner (grantee).
