Yes. Professional development counts as work time. If attending a session impacts your work duties or schedule, please work with your supervisor to accommodate.
Each session description includes suggestions for the groups of employees that may benefit the most from the session, such as employees looking to find a new job in state service, build skills in their current role or support their teams as a supervisor.
However, there are no requirements to attend a session, and all sessions are open to any current State of Minnesota employee.
There is no limit to the number of sessions you can attend. However, the sessions are tailored to different employee groups, and some content may not be relevant to your career journey.
No. Supervisor approval is not required to attend. If attending a session impacts your work duties or schedule, please work with your supervisor to accommodate.
Overall attendance by agency may be reported (for example: “59 MMB employees registered for Take Charge of Your Career”), but individual participation will not be tracked or reported. Registrant emails are only used by the MMB Workforce Development team to communicate with you about the event.
When registering for a session, you get an email with the calendar invite. When it’s time to join the session, open the invite and select the “Join the session” link. The link will open the Teams meeting like any other Teams event.
Yes. You can join from a mobile device. It’s recommended you download and use the Microsoft Teams app for the best experience. However, you can attend using a web browser as well.
Attendees must register for each session to receive the calendar invitation. Registrant emails are only used by the MMB Workforce Development team to communicate with you about the event.
Session registration links will be shared in the July Career Connections newsletter and with agency leaders to distribute at their agencies. Because sessions are limited to current State of Minnesota employees, links are not posted on this site. Please check with your manager or supervisor or your agency's learning and development lead if you're not sure where to find the links.
Every session will have an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter. In addition, Teams Town Halls include live captions, screen reader support and keyboard navigation. After the event, the recorded sessions will be edited to include captions. If you require an accommodation or have questions, please contact us at workforce.development.mmb@state.mn.us by July 20.
