Legal Plan

Employees who sign up for coverage have access to legal advice and representation for more than 80 issues. 

During Open Enrollment go to Self Service to:

• Sign up for new coverage
• Drop your current coverage

The premium is $16.16 a month. 

• The coverage includes you, your spouse and your dependents.
• The plan pays attorney fees. Outside costs such as filing fees, fines, etc. still apply.
• You do not need an ID card. MetLife will email a code to you.
• Some services are excluded. Read the fine print in the documents on the MetLife Legal Plan website.

Other services included with the Legal Plan through MetLife:

• TurboTax online tax preparation and filing software. One federal and one state tax filing a year.
• Four hours of an attorney's time for non-covered matters that are not otherwise excluded.
• Digital notary and signing. It is allowed in Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. It is not available in all states.

Reminder: Legal document libraries and limited legal advice are available through two other benefits: enterprise employee assistance services and your basic life insurance.
