Fair Labor Standards Act

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, record keeping, and child labor standards affecting full-time and part-time workers in the private sector and in Federal, State, and Local governments. This law was enacted by Congress in 1938 to correct labor conditions which were found to be detrimental to the health, efficiency, and well-being of employees. Today, the law continues to protect the rights of employees and seeks to ensure positive working conditions.
