What do I do if my state health insurance has ended?

What you do next depends on why your insurance ended and what type of notice you received. There are four types of closing notices:

  • METS closing notice for missing paperwork
  • MAXIS closing notice for missing paperwork
  • METS closing notice for program ineligibility
  • MAXIS closing notice for program ineligibility

If you are no longer eligible for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare, there are other low-cost health care options available.

Closing notice for missing paperwork

You received this notice if we did not receive your renewal form or proofs. You may have forgotten to return it, misplaced the form or ran out of time. Or you may have skipped the paperwork because you believe you no longer qualify for public health care programs. See below for examples of what these may look like.

You may still qualify for free or low-cost health insurance even if you think you do not. Or others in your household may still qualify due to different eligibility rules.

It’s not too late to turn in your paperwork. Submit your renewal form as soon as possible. To ask for another renewal form, contact your health plan's member services, a MNsure navigator or your county or Tribe.
