Approval criteria

Patient has demonstrated efficacy on an equivalent dose of tramadol immediate release and the prescriber or pharmacy provides compelling need for once daily dosing.

Quantity limits

All the tramadol extended release products are titrated to effective dose. The product is intended to be dosed once daily and is indicated for once-daily administration.

Background information

All tramadol extended-release products are centrally acting opioid analgesic indicated for the management of moderate to moderately severe chronic pain in adults who require around-the clock treatment for an extended period of time.
