The MinnesotaCare Premium Estimator Table (PDF) can help you estimate your premium amount. The exact amount depends on your income, family size and number of people covered. After coverage is approved, you will get a premium notice in the mail. It will tell you exactly how much you must pay.
Important notice: You cannot pay your premium in person at this time. The MinnesotaCare office in downtown St. Paul is temporarily closed to the public during Minnesota’s COVID-19 peacetime emergency. County offices do not take MinnesotaCare premium payments. We are sorry for this inconvenience.
During the COVID-19 peacetime emergency, you can pay your premium:

Select MinnesotaCare from the menu. You will need your case number, the invoice number and the amount of your premium. You can pay by credit card (VISA or MasterCard) or by check.
By phone at 800-657-3672, option 1 for enrolled, option 1 again to make a payment:

Allow enough time for your payment to arrive by the due date on your bill. You can pay by check or money order. Do not mail cash. Write your case number on your check or money order and mail your payment with the payment stub from your bill to this address:

We must get your premium payment by noon on the last business day of the month for your coverage to start on the first day of the next month.
Payments made online, by telephone or mail must be received by noon on the last business day of the month to guarantee coverage for the following month. Payments received after 5:00 p.m. or on holidays or weekends will be credited the following business day.
Ongoing monthly premiums are due on the 15th of the month.
Payments received Monday through Friday before 5:00 p.m., excluding holidays, will be credited on the same business day with the exception of the last business day of the month. Payments made by telephone or online must be made by noon on the last business day of the month to guarantee coverage for the following month. Payments made after 5:00 p.m. or on holidays or weekends will be credited the following business day.
You will have coverage for one more month if you do not pay your premium. That is a grace month. You must pay your monthly premium by noon on the last working day of the grace month to avoid a gap in coverage. Your coverage will end if you do not pay your premium by noon on the last business day of the grace month.
Payments made online, by telephone or mail that are received after 5:00 p.m. or on holidays or weekends will be credited the following business day.
You must pay the grace month premium and a premium for a future month to get coverage again. This means you must pay for two months of premiums to restart coverage. Your coverage starts again on the first day of the month after we get the total amount due. We will forgive your unpaid grace month premium if you are still not covered when we bill you for the fourth month after the grace month. The forgiven grace month premium will no longer appear on your MinnesotaCare premium bills once it is forgiven. You must pay for a future month of coverage to restart your coverage after your grace month premium is forgiven.
