Childhood vaccinations

Routine childhood vaccinations do more than protect one child — they protect entire communities. They prevent illness, save lives, and help ensure every kid has the chance to grow up healthy by stopping the spread of disease before it starts. Children enrolled Minnesota Health Care Programs — Medical Assistance (Minnesota’s Medicaid program) and MinnesotaCare — experience lower vaccination rates than their peers with commercial health insurance. Over the last several years, childhood and adolescent immunization rates have been declining even further for these kids and communities.

Vaccination status need not be another disadvantage for low-income Minnesota children. Everyone can play an important role in catching children up on vaccines they need and experiencing the freedom of improved herd immunity.
