Rebecca-MagnusonRebecca Magnuson

Rebecca works at Hennepin County with people with disabilities who receive waivered services through Medicaid.

“People I work with depend on the services that Medicaid funds, such as personal care assistants, to live vibrant lives in the community. If there were significant cuts to waivered services, many clients would need to go to nursing facilities, which may have higher costs and significantly worse quality of life for the people they service (also funded through Medicaid). We would likely see significantly more homelessness, hospitalizations, and worsened health outcomes with significant Medicaid cuts.”

“Medicaid (in particular Medicaid waivers) helps many of the people I work with live vibrant lives in their own homes. It helps respect the dignity of those with disabilities to live full person-centered lives.”

“If funding for Medicaid waivers was cut it would be devastating for the clients I work with leading to homelessness and significantly reduced quality of life. In some cases, it would mean death as some clients I work with are paralyzed or utterly dependent on others to provide them with their food, medications, address their medical needs.”
