Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

Federal government shutdown update

The partial federal government shutdown has ended. Because we issued February Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits early, we are issuing most March SNAP benefits on March 4-6 to minimize the time recipients have to wait between their February and March benefits.

Also, we continue to encourage you to:

  • Apply for SNAP if you are not already receiving it but need those benefits.
  • Continue to use your EBT card. Grocery stores, convenience stores, farmers markets and other authorized SNAP retailers are still able to accept SNAP benefits.
  • Contact the Minnesota Food HelpLine, 1-888-711-1151 or if you need help with food.

For more information, see the department’s Frequently Asked Questions document about the shutdown’s impact on benefits. Please watch this website for updated information as it becomes available.

Provide feedback

We frequently review how counties interact with people who utilize state economic assistance programs and would like feedback on your most recent contact with a local county agency. Your feedback provides valuable information to improve SNAP services across the state. Complete the survey in English or Spanish.
