How much does coverage cost?

For some people, the only cost is copays for some services. Depending on your income, there may be a monthly premium or spenddown.

When can my child's coverage start?

After your child is approved, coverage may:

  • Go back to the first day of the month we get your application
  • Go back three months from the month we get your application
  • Begin the month after your child is approved

What do I need to show that my child has a disability or is Blind?

To be considered a person with a disability for MA, your child must be certified disabled through the Social Security Administration or the State Medical Review Team.

What is the income limit?

The income limit and whose income is counted depend on:

  • Your child's age
  • What services your child needs
  • Who lives with you

If my income is more than the limit, can my child still get coverage?

Yes, your child may still get coverage under:

Can my child get coverage if I have a house, car, savings or other assets?

Yes, children under 21 do not have an asset limit.

What if my child has other health insurance?

Your child may still get coverage. You must tell us if your child has other health insurance or could be covered by someone else's insurance. Sometimes we can pay the cost of the other insurance so you can keep that coverage.
