What is LoginMN?

​LoginMN is the secure way to access Minnesota’s online benefit applications and services. This includes your human services health care account. Whether you’re applying for the first time or returning to manage your benefits, this page will help you create an account, log in, and troubleshoot common issues. After you’ve created an account, you will be able to sign in to access your health care account. This account allows you to:  

  • ​Apply or re-apply for benefits online (mail in option is always still available)
  • ​Review notices
  • ​File an appeal
  • ​Assign a navigator

How do I create a LoginMN account?

Creating an account takes just a few minutes. You’ll need an email address and access to your inbox for verification.

Instructions

  1. Go to the LoginMN sign in page.
  2. Select Create account.
  3. Enter your name and email address.
  4. Create a password that meets the security requirements.
  5. Check your email for a verification link and follow the instructions.
  6. Verify your identity (if you haven’t already done this for another LoginMN service provided).
  7. Return to LoginMN and sign in with your new credentials.

How to resolve common LoginMN issues

Resetting your password

If you forgot your password:

  • Select Forgot password on the LoginMN sign in page
  • Enter your email address
  • Check your inbox for a reset link
  • Create a new password and sign in again

Tip: Password reset emails may take a few minutes. Check your spam or junk folder.

Remembering your username

If you can’t remember your username:

  • Select Forgot username
  • Enter the email address you used when creating your account
  • Your username will be sent to your email

Not getting emails sent from LoginMN

If you didn’t receive your verification email:

  • Confirm you entered your email correctly
  • Check spam/junk folders
  • Search your inbox for “LoginMN”
  • Select Resend verification email on the LoginMN page

Locked out of sign-in page

Your account may lock after several incorrect password attempts. To unlock it:

  • Wait 15 minutes and try again
  • Or reset your password to unlock immediately

Common online application error messages

Before you call, check these common application error messages to see if that fixes your problem.

403 – “Forbidden” error

What does this mean: Access to the page is restricted, often due to permission or a browser issue.

How to fix:

  • Clear your browser cache and cookies.
  • Try a different browser.

400 – Unhandled service exception error

What does this mean: Something in the application didn’t follow the system rules or your session data became corrupted.

How to fix:

  • If you see this on the Application summary screen: Return to Home and start a new application.
  • On any other screen: Clear your browser cache and cookies or try a different browser.

500 – Unhandled service exception error

What does this mean: The server had an unexpected problem, such as high traffic or a system error.

How to fix:

  • Clear your browser cache and cookies.
  • Try again later.

Authorization failed

After attempting to submit online application.

What does this mean: You may already have an active application or open case in our system.

How to fix: Call the number listed on your application confirmation or by calling the DHS Contact Center at: 651-478-8348 or 833-880-1001.

Unhandled user error

What does this mean: The system crashed because the browser’s “Back” button was used instead of the system navigation buttons.

How to fix:

  • Select the Minnesota logo in the upper left to continue.
  • Use the system navigation buttons instead of your browser’s “Back” button.

What are they?

  • Cookies: Small bits of information a website saves so it can remember you.
  • Cache: Browser’s temporary storage that helps pages load faster.
