Child protection

Minnesota has various programs to help children who may not be in safe environments.

County and tribal child protection workers work with families to prevent child maltreatment or, in some case, work with the courts and law enforcement to remove children from the home if they are in harm's way.

Also, children who have been victims of sex trafficking can get help under the Safe Harbor law.

Under the Safe Place for Newborns law, mothers can anonymously leave their unharmed babies born in the past seven days at a safe place without fear of prosecution.
