Steps to renew your coverage

If you have Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare, we must review your eligibility once a year to see whether you are still eligible. This process is called a renewal. When it is time to renew your coverage we will send you a notice explaining what to do.

When your renewal date is approaching, follow these steps.

Remember: “The circle in blue means it’s time to renew.” Watch your mail for an envelope with a blue dot. Once you receive it, get started right away.

If we can automatically renew coverage

  • If we can automatically renew coverage for everyone in your household, we will send you a notice and an information summary.
    • You must review the information summary to make sure all the information about you and your family is correct, and notify us if you have a change or correction to report.

If we cannot automatically renew coverage

  • If we cannot automatically renew coverage for one or more people in your household, we will send a renewal form for you to complete, sign and return.
    • You must return the form with needed proofs by the due date.
    • When we get your completed renewal form, we will decide whether the people in your household who must renew their eligibility for Medical Assistance remain eligible for health care coverage.
