Health care coverage
Changes to health care account access
Online access to Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare is changing for people who were using MNsure.org to view their public health care information:
Starting June 27, 2026, the way you sign in to see your Medical Assistance (MA) or MinnesotaCare information online will change. Your health care coverage is not changing. Only the online account you use for your public health care programs is changing.
This change applies only to people who:
- Have Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare, and
- Used a MNsure account (on mnsure.org) to view their information online
Where should I log in?
The online account you should access to find information about your case depends on the program you are enrolled in.
Department of Human Services
Log-in to or create a human services health care account if you are enrolled in Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare. See the information on this page to determine who needs to create an account, who the application filer is, and where you go to sign-in or create your human services health care account.
Human services health care accountHow can I tell?
You are likely to be on Medical Assistance or Minnesota and have your case managed by the Department of Human Services if:
- You pay no (or a very small) monthly bill (premium) directly to the state. This bill comes in the mail and has a case number and bill number at the top
- Your notices have the Department of Human Services logo at the top of them
- You received a member ID card from a county or Tribal agency or Department of Human Services which is says “Minnesota Health Care Programs” at the top of it.
MNsure
Log in here if you have a private (QHP) health plan through the MNsure marketplace. MNsure accounts will no longer show information about Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare programs.
MNsure accountHow can I tell?
You are likely to be on a private (QHP) program and have your case managed by MNsure if:
- You pay a larger monthly bill (premium) directly to an insurance company. You may be getting tax credits to lower the cost of that bill
- You picked your plan on the MNsure website marketplace
- Your notices have the MNsure logo at the top of them
- You only received a member ID card from an insurance company and it has the name of the insurance company at the top of the card.
Who needs to create a human services health care account?
If you were using MNsure.org to see your Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare information, you must now create a DHS Health Care Account to continue viewing your information online.
To make sure your new human services health care account connects to your current case, the application filer must be the person who creates or signs in with LoginMN.
Creating an account is optional
You only need a human services health care account if you plan to review your information or act online (such as applying, viewing notices, filing an appeal or assigning a navigator). You can still get help and manage your case by phone, mail, or in person without an online account.
Who is the application filer
The application filer is the person listed in the “About you” section of the original health care application. This is the person the system identifies as the one who applied for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare.
Important:
Only the person listed as the application filer in the system can create or sign in with LoginMN and link to the human services health care account for this case. If anyone else signs in or creates the account, the case will not connect.
To link the case:
- The application filer must be the person who signs in with LoginMN
- The application filer must complete identity verification if they have not done so before
- The case must be open and have current eligibility for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare
- These are system rules that protect your personal information and ensure the correct case is linked.
Not sure who the application filer is
Workers can only confirm the application filer to people who are already authorized on the case.
- If you are not listed as an authorized representative, the worker cannot tell you who the application filer is.
- This protects the privacy of the person who applied.
Who to contact
If you have Medical Assistance, or your household has both Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare, contact your county or Tribal office.
Find your local county or Tribal officeIf you have MinnesotaCare and no one in your household has Medical Assistance, call Health Care Consumer Support.
Contact Health Care Consumer SupportCreate or log-in to your health care account
You will need to create or sign-in to your LoginMN account using one of the two paths listed. This gives you access to your health care account. Even if you’ve used LoginMN before, you may be asked to verify your identity because health care requires added security.
Important:
Even if someone else in your home has a LoginMN account, the application filer must be the person who signs in. This is the only way to connect the human services health care account to the correct case.
If the application filer already has a LoginMN sign-on
- Select the Sign-in or create account button
- Enter your LoginMN username and password
- You may be asked to complete identity verification
- Once identity is verified, your health care account will be created and linked (if the case is open and you have current eligibility)
If the application filer does NOT have a LoginMN sign-on
- Select the Sign in or create account button
- Select Create account
- Enter your email and verify the code sent
- Create a password
- Complete identity verification (by uploading a government ID and taking a selfie)
- Once verified, your human services health care account will be created and linked (if the case is open and you have current eligibility)
Note: This one-time identity verification protects your personal information.
