MNIT provides telephone services that meet a breadth of different needs, including desk telephones, electronic fax capability for sending critical documents, and emergency telephones in facilities that contribute to staff and visitor safety.
MNIT’s IP Telephony service offering facilitates user interaction, communication, and collaboration. Customers are billed separately for all domestic long distance and directory assistance calls made by their staff.
This service offering includes:
IP telephone (physical desk phone).
IP telephony extension and voicemail box (does not require a desk phone). Includes dial tone and network connectivity through voice over IP (VoIP).
IP telephony voice mail with unified messaging to send voicemail notifications to users.
International long distance can be provisioned for an additional charge if needed.
24/7 support through the Enterprise Service Desk, and escalated Telephone Operations support during normal business hours.
IP Telephony is charged on a per seat per month basis.
Analog Telephony provides users with their own direct dial number and access to local and long-distance calling. The governing contracts for these services are negotiated to provide rates and terms favorable to the state.
The Analog Telephony service offering includes:
Direct inward dial.
International long distance can be provisioned for an additional charge if needed.
Voicemail.
Caller ID.
Call forwarding.
Three-way calling.
Call waiting.
Call hold.
Call transfer.
Customers are billed separately for all domestic long distance and directory assistance calls made by their staff. In addition to the full Analog Telephony service offering, MNIT offers an analog Basic Line designed for specialized monitoring, faxing or equipment support purposes.
Long Distance is available to non-executive branch customers via negotiated contracts between MNIT and commercial service providers. The governing contracts for these services are negotiated to provide rates and terms favorable to the state.
MNIT’s Long Distance telephone service offering provides incoming and outgoing call traffic to non-executive branch state and local government entities within Minnesota. Call traffic is handled over existing public switched telephone network (PSTN) facilities or session initiation protocol (SIP) trunks.
Non-executive branch state customers and other institutions that use MNIT’s local telephone service contracts are automatically provisioned with contracted long-distance service. That means they have the capability for state, national, Canadian, and Mexican long distance and directory assistance calling. However, the customer is billed separately for all long distance and directory assistance calls made by their staff. MNIT’s state contract for long distance services includes:
This service offering allows users to send and receive faxes electronically from a desktop or laptop computer. Incoming faxes are delivered to the user’s email account associated with their electronic fax account. (This service does not include fax machines or printer hardware support.)
MNIT's Voice Services include the capability for state, national, Canadian, and Mexican long distance and directory assistance calling, however the customer is billed separately for all long distance and directory assistance calls made by their staff. The annual usage costs associated with all state telephones are averaged into the monthly rates of the Voice service offerings. Customers are responsible for the appropriate use of these usage-based voice services by employees.
MNIT telecom coordinators will help customers determine the services and features needed based on business needs. Note that current small office multi-line phones are being replaced with enterprise IP Telephony services.
Must provide handsets for use with the Analog Voice service offering.
Must purchase and maintain their desktop telephone equipment.
