Summary: To better serve all Minnesotans, the Department of Public Safety (DPS) will create a new agency website with a modern, mobile-friendly design. This update aims to improve customer experiences and success rates across a wide variety of devices. The website will provide better service to all users, integrate new digital services, and enhance accessibility and functionality to serve all communities. Additionally, it will feature an industry-leading content management system (CMS). With a user-centered approach, mobile optimization, and a new content strategy, the redesign is expected to increase user satisfaction and success rates while reducing the need for assistance contacts.
The project employed a data-driven process to understand user experience and needs, incorporating user feedback at the beginning, middle, and after launch. Internal research was conducted to understand agency needs and goals for content and online service delivery. Digital strategy sessions were held for all divisions to identify immediate, short-term, and long-term needs, as well as common tools used across divisions, ultimately creating a comprehensive digital strategy.
The project kickoff began in September 2023, followed by community engagement in November 2023. Research results were compiled in January 2024, with design approval completed in May 2024. Development is scheduled to be completed by August 2024, leading to the site launch in November 2024.
Value: A new, modern, mobile-friendly website will improve Minnesotans experiences across all devices. The site features robust search functionality, organized menus, a new content management system, and various digital service integrations.
