Brandon Hirsch

Deputy Commissioner

Brandon Hirsch serves as the Deputy Commissioner for Minnesota IT Services (MNIT). In this role, he oversees MNIT’s business operations units—including finance, procurement, human resources, communications, and government relations, ensuring strong operational alignment and effective support for the state’s technology enterprise.

Brandon also leads MNIT’s strategic partnerships and engagement with key advisory bodies and partners, including the Technology Advisory Council, Cybersecurity Task Force, and Geospatial Advisory Council. He leads MNIT’s interactions with the Minnesota Legislature on technology policy and budget matters, advocating for strategic investments that strengthen cybersecurity, improve digital accessibility, and enhance digital services for Minnesotans.

In addition, Brandon works closely with agency technology leaders across the executive branch to advance statewide IT initiatives and coordinates engagement with county technology partners to support collaboration across levels of government.

With more than 20 years of experience at the intersection of technology, policy, and public service, Brandon previously served as an assistant director at the National Archives and spent nearly a decade working in technology administration and policy in the United States Senate.
