Jenna Covey serves as the Chief Business Technology Officer at Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) partnering with the Department of Natural Resources. In her role, she leads efforts to use technology and data so all Minnesotans benefit from nature and that the state is positioned to tackle issues like mitigating and adapting to climate change.
As a senior IT executive, Covey brings nearly fifteen years of experience in the non-profit, private, and government sectors bringing technology and business strategies together to solve big problems. Jenna’s experience includes several years serving as Assistant Commissioner and Chief Digital Officer at MNIT, where she contributed to the implementation of the state’s first comprehensive digital brand across 26 state agencies. She has also led the implementation of several enterprise solutions and has helped build MNIT’s enterprise governance structure for implementing enterprise solutions across the state of Minnesota.
Throughout her career, Jenna has been a champion for developing leadership skills and building the talent pipeline for women’s executive leadership. She currently serves as the executive champion of the State of Minnesota Women IT ChangeMakers Employee Resource Group, and is also the vice chair of the board of directors for the St Louis Park Friends of the Arts.
