Veterans Healthcare Fast Forward Technical Transformation

Summary: In Minnesota, the Minnesota Department of Veteran Affairs (MDVA) serves over 300,000 veterans and their families through various programs, services, healthcare, and living centers. Minnesota’s veteran community spans eight decades, and as their needs evolve, so do the requirements for living conditions and healthcare.

MDVA’s homes and healthcare division supports over 1,000 residents at a time. The high demand for care led to the construction of three new homes, doubling capacity. Despite this, the agency still has an extensive waitlist.

Furthermore, the agency is responsible for the well-being and engagement of over 3,000 employees who take pride in caring for veterans. Ensuring our team members feel supported, engaged, and heard is crucial.

To provide the best care and services, MDVA needs data insights to maintain customer service excellence. The agency must meet regulatory and compliance requirements in veterans' healthcare, implement best practices in healthcare and suicide prevention, and prioritize health equity.

The inability to quickly access and analyze data hinders the agency's ability to measure performance, gauge satisfaction, and implement improvements. Using cascading dashboards to measure periodic results and drilling down into detailed metrics will help senior leaders and administrators monitor processes, lead staff effectively, enhance continuous improvement, and support proactive decision-making, ultimately benefiting our stakeholders.

Value: Help Veteran Home Leaders and Administrators monitor and manage processes, improve operations continuously, and make proactive and informed decisions to better serve our diverse stakeholders.
