Title II Digital Accessibility Drop-in session

Background

In April 2024, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) updated the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to require state and local governments to make their websites and other digital content accessible.

The requirement references Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1.

It also set deadlines of:

  • April 24 2026 for governments with populations of 50,000 or more
  • April 26, 2027 for governments with populations under 50,000
