Interpretation

MNIT offers three types of Over the Phone Interpretation (OPI):

• General OPI is for general use and does not require any special certifications or have any special requirements. General OPI can be used for 9-1-1 calls.
• Health Care Certified OPI is used when specialized terminology and knowledge is required for hospitals, clinics, or health information centers.
• Court/Legal Certified OPI is used when specialized terminology and knowledge is required for hearings or legal proceedings.

Agency partners subscribed to the OPI Service should contact the Enterprise Service Desk to get an access code.

• All usage charges for state, national, Canadian, and Mexican long distance, and directory assistance are included in MNIT’s Voice Service rates for executive branch agencies. The annual usage costs associated with all state telephones are averaged into the monthly rates of the Voice service offerings. Agency partners are responsible for the appropriate use of these usage-based voice services by employees.
• MNIT telecom coordinators will help agency partners determine the services and features needed based on business needs. Note that current small office multi-line phones are being replaced with enterprise IP Telephony services.

• Agencies are responsible for purchasing and maintaining their desktop telephone equipment. 
• Agencies can purchase headsets, text telephones, and other Voice Services accessories through state vendor contracts. For more information, contact MNIT Relationship Management, 651-556-0799.
