Intro
Minnesotans expect modern, digital applications that can provide access to services at any time, from any place, and in an equitable and secure manner. In 2023, the Minnesota Legislature provided $40 million of funding over four years for the Technology Modernization Fund (TMF). The TMF allows Minnesota IT Services to fund projects and efforts that modernize, secure, and improve the customer experience of executive branch technology systems. Read descriptions of the approved projects below. The Modernization Steering Team recommends and monitors proposals for the Technology Modernization Fund. The team consists of leaders from MNIT and agency partners.
TMF Funds will be for efforts that:
- Improve customer experience
- Create or improve digital services
- Address a security risk
- Modernize a business process
- Improve resiliency, operational efficiency, and/or risk reduction
- Align to the One Minnesota Plan
- Move to a shared or market-based technology solution
- Leverage AI or automation
Projects
Minnesotans rely on licensed professionals in fields like accountancy, architecture, engineering, and surveying to deliver safe, high-quality services. To ensure continued access to qualified experts, Minnesotans will benefit from the modernization of the core Licensing Compliance System (LCS), used by the Boards of Accountancy and AELSLAGID. This system supports all licensure and enforcement functions for over 40,000 professionals statewide.
