Property & Casualty Adds Dedicated Loss Control Staff

10/24/2016 12:20:16 PM

Todd Christenson

Risk Management Division’s Property & Casualty Program would like to welcome Adam Bald as our property and casualty loss control and fleet safety specialist.

Adam studied Public Administration, Political Science, and Criminal Justice and graduated with his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse.  He has work experience in corrections, law enforcement, background investigation, and insurance claims.

Adam’s primary responsibility is to focus on common sources of losses for the Risk Management Fund (RMF). Over the next 12-24 months Adam expects to focus on:

  • Coordinating and enhancing the COPE audit program.
COPE, an acronym for construction, occupancy, protection, and exposure, is an engineering study of facilities intended to identify and correct issues that lead to property loss, personal injury, and/or loss of life. We have a goal of visiting all high value properties every four years.
  • Updating the state’s model fleet safety standards.
The state’s current model fleet safety standards, which include recommendations for driver’s license record checks and defensive driving training, have been in existence since 2007.  Much has changed since 2007, including the extensive use of smart phones and advanced studies on distracted driving.
  • Assisting with the statewide emphasis on reducing slips, trips, and falls.
In addition to being the leading cause of work-related injuries, slips, trips, and falls, are also a significant source of general liability claims for the RMF. Adam will work with our occupational loss control staff to share slip, trip, fall prevention tips and resources with our insureds.

Adam is excited to be a part of the Risk Management team and is available to assist your agency with loss control and fleet safety goals.

Outside of work, Adam enjoys spending time with his wife, two children, and the family dog. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, and woodworking.
