Workshops and Trainings

Introduction to Data Practices
Need a primer or a refresher about your responsibilities related to data practices in state or local government? Then this workshop is for you!
The workshop offers:
- Background on a government entities legal duties related to government data
- Advice on the legal requirements related to appropriate access to not public data and data breach investigations and notifications
- Help creating or updating customized data practices policies and procedures required by law, and
- An opportunity to apply your knowledge in hands-on exercises
Workshop details:
Date: Wednesday, February 18, 2026
Time: 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Place: Remote attendance only
Cost: $125 per person (please register each individual who will attend)
Other details and requirements:
- Space is limited to 30 attendees. You will receive an email confirming your registration and a reminder email prior to the workshop with attendance instructions and materials.
- If you are unable to attend, you must contact us at least 5 days before the workshop to avoid being billed.
- Invoice for payment will be provided following the workshop. Local entities (non-SWIFT payors) may pay by credit card (convenience fees apply) or check.

Law Enforcement Data Workshop
Join the Data Practices Office for a workshop on law enforcement data hosted by the Rochester Police Department! Need a primer or a refresher about the key provisions in Minnesota law governing law enforcement data? Then this workshop is for you!
The workshop offers:
- Discussion of general legal requirements, including criminal investigative data, juvenile data, traffic accident data, body camera video data, and more;
- Real-life problem solving scenarios based on actual inquiries; and
- Time for questions and answers about the day-to-day issues that involve law enforcement data.

This is an in-person training. There will not be a remote option.
