Transit Options

The Department of Public Safety, Capitol Security Division will provide escort service to and from Capitol Complex Light Rail Stations.
Call 651-296-6741 to request an escort.  Please allow up to 20 minutes for the escort to arrive.

Several programs exist to encourage alternative modes of transport to and from the Capitol Complex. Details on these programs are listed in the tabs below.

Lime Scooter Rental is available on the Capitol Complex seasonally, April 15 - November 15

Lime scooters are a convenient way to get between buildings. To start a scooter just download the Lime Scooter mobile app.

dero9Bicycle Fixit Station in Ramp F and Centennial Ramp, Green Level


Check out the bicycle repair station located just inside the entrance to Ramp F and Centennial Ramp, Green Level!  It's free to use. You can place your bicycle on the stand while you work with the attached variety of bicycle repair tools and an air pump. There are QR codes posted on the station that you can scan with your phone to get detailed bicycle repair instructions.

  • Metropass Program

    Metropass is a program that allows card holders to get unlimited access to regional buses and trains.

    The Metropass Program is available to all state, federal, legislative and judicial employees who work in buildings on Capitol Complex under the custodial control of the Department of Administration. See description in Eligibility section below. 

    How Do I Enroll?

    • Come to the Parking and Transit Office in the Administration Building, Room G10.  Parking desk hours of operation are from 7:00 AM - 3:15 PM, Monday through Friday.
    • A temporary card will be issued and is valid immediately when you enroll.
    • A non-transferrable card will be issued from Metro Transit and provided to our office.
    • You'll turn in the temporary card at our office when we notify you that your permanent card is ready.
    • Temporary and permanent cards may be used for unlimited rides on regional Metro Transit routes.
    • Additional fees are required for use of the Northstar train.

    Subsidized Metropass

    For eligible employees within Capitol Complex buildings under Facilities Management control who do not have a parking contract.

    Unsubsidized Metropass

    Provides the opportunity for eligible employees to have access to a monthly Metropass card.

    Rates

    • Metropass subsidized: $35.00 per month (those who do not have a parking contract with FMD).
    • Metropass unsubsidized: $83.00 per month (those who have a parking contract with FMD).
    • Legislative employees: $35.00 pay monthly (non-payroll deduction)

    Note: State employees are typically covered through a pre-tax payroll deduction. Non-payroll employees pay $35.00 monthly.

    State, federal, legislative and judicial employees working in the following buildings under Admin Facilities Management's custodial control are eligible.

    • BCA Maryland
    • Centennial Office Building
    • Freeman Office Building
    • Judicial Center

    • State Capitol Building
    • State Office Building
    • Transportation Building
    • Veterans Service Building 

    Cancellation

    To cancel your permanent Metropass card, email your request to fmd.comments@state.mn.us .
