2/10/2020 4:02:42 PM

The statement, "Our safety meetings are effective," had the second-lowest score of all statements in the 2019 Statewide Safety Perception Survey.

According to the 2019 survey results, three agencies showed significant improvements in the perceptions of their safety meetings. They are:

  • Department of Natural Resouces (9.86% increase)
  • Department of Administration (8.81% increase)
  • Department of Human Services (2.74%)

Implement these strategies to improve your safety culture!

Strategies used by agencies to strengthen their workforce's perceptions of safety meetings and improve their safety culture scores include:

  • Developed safety committee charter identifying roles and responsibilities
  • Senior leadership commitement and sponsorship of safety committees
  • Produced and distributed a meeting agenda prior to all meetings
  • Published meeting minutes after each meeting
  • Announced monthly meetings in agency communication
  • Highlighted committee members and activites in agency communication
  • Reorganzied safety committees from a regional to divisional model
  • Created a safety engagement and steering committee with the senior leadership team

Please consider adopting these strategies in order to improve your safety meetings.
