What's the "first step" for workplace safety?

Slipping and falling accounts for a large number of winter-related injuries and can have an impact on your quality of life. According to US Bureau of Labor Statistics, twenty-two percent of slip/fall incidents result in more than 31 days away from work. A simple precaution is right under your nose - wear appropriate footwear!

Other controls to help prevent slip and falls

• Practice good housekeeping
• Keep floor surfaces clean and dry
• Report and clean up spills immediately
• Ensure wet floor warning signs are posted
• Ensure all work areas have proper lighting
• Shovel and salt walkways where appropriate
• Watch where you're walking!
