Don't Let Arctic Blast Equal Frozen Pipes!
The first really cold air of the season is forecasted to settle across Minnesota this weekend so it seems like a good time to revisit what can be done to prevent frozen pipes in your buildings.
AIG’s 2 page Insight document titled “Frozen Pipes” does a nice job summarizing activities you can do to reduce the chance of frozen pipes.
Two key actions you should take now:
- 1. Inspect exterior doors and windows to be sure they are closed and functioning properly so cold air is not leaking into the building.
- 2. Frequently inspect areas prone to frozen pipes (especially over weekends and holidays).
It is also good to have a plan of action if a pipe bursts!
