Saint Paul — The Minnesota State Capitol will welcome the public to the Grand Opening Celebration August 11, 12, and 13. As part of a jam-packed weekend of festivities, Cloud Cult will join Poliça as co-headliners, replacing Lizzo, after unforeseen circumstances led her to cancel multiple appearances.
Event organizers are ecstatic that Cloud Cult will be joining the line-up of entertainers, solidifying the weekend as a can’t miss event. Cloud Cult is an experimental indie rock band from Duluth, Minnesota led by singer/songwriter Craig Minowa. Their live shows are uplifting and high energy and feature on stage artists who create paintings while a full band performs. Cloud Cult has received accolades from MTV, New York Times, Entertainment Weekly and has had several albums top the college radio charts. They have also been acknowledged for their commitment to environmental sustainability in their work.
The August 12 concert begins at 7 p.m. Those planning to attend the concert can enjoy Minnesota craft beers beforehand at the Cap Uptapped event. For $25, attendees can enjoy happy hour in front of the Minnesota State Capitol, sampling brews from 30 breweries across Minnesota. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time at tempotickets.com/CapUntapped. The concert will be followed by an extended fireworks show over the Capitol.
All Minnesotans are invited to the Capitol Grand Opening Celebration August 11, 12 and 13 at the fully restored Minnesota State Capitol. The three-day long celebration will reintroduce Minnesotans to the “People’s House” which just finished a four-year restoration project. The celebration will feature diverse music and entertainment, exclusive tours, family-friendly activities, fireworks and much more.
“We are thrilled to have Cloud Cult join us at this exciting celebration,” said Administration Commissioner Matt Massman. “I hope all Minnesotans will mark their calendars for this concert and a visit to the State Capitol this August.”
