My MN Capitol mobile app is a one-stop site for everything Grand Opening – plus a scavenger hunt

Saint Paul — Visitors attending the Minnesota State Capitol Grand Opening will have the weekend’s information at their fingertips with a new mobile app. The Department of Administration has released the My MN Capitol app to help celebration-goers easily find information such as schedules, maps, and parking information. The mobile app also features an interactive scavenger hunt game and event related social media streaming. The August 11-13 celebration will have more than 50 events inside the Capitol and on the Capitol grounds.

“There are a lot of wonderful events happening all weekend and we want the Capitol Grand Opening to be fun and easily accessible,” said Administration Commissioner Matt Massman. “The My MN Capitol app makes planning and navigating the celebration easy by bringing the information to your fingertips.”
Capitol Grand Opening – August 11-13: The Capitol Grand Opening Celebration spans three days with the theme of “My MN Capitol.” Festivities kick off on Friday, August 11 with yoga on the Capitol lawn, a ceremonial ribbon cutting, a Prince dance party, a Hotdish Panel series with insight from Minnesota leaders, and special “behind the scenes” tours of the restored Minnesota State Capitol. Saturday events include “Cap Untapped”, a beer tasting event sponsored by Minnesota Craft Brewer’s Guild and The Current, a free concert on the Star Tribune Stage by Minnesota headliners Lizzo and Poliça, sponsored by The Current and an extended fireworks show. On Sunday, join MPR Classical for a “Bring the Sing on the Capitol Green,” a community sing-along event and meet the individuals who restored the Capitol to its original beauty at the Capitol Worker’s Appreciation Celebration.
