Admin Announces Local Public Radio Grant Awards for Projects Promoting Minnesota’s Cultural Heritage

Six projects will receive funds from the State Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund

ST. PAUL - Commissioner Matt Massman announced today the award of four grants to local public radio stations. The $94,894 in grants were competitively awarded to create and produce six radio projects related to Minnesota's cultural heritage.

The selected grant recipients and amounts are:

  • KUMD (Duluth) - $16,000 and $2,609
    • Northland Music Festival
    • Stories of Glensheen Mansion: Congdon's Legacy
  • KAXE (Grand Rapids) - $2,000 and $7,050
    • What's Left - A community project using art to help heal in suicide's aftermath
    • Music History and Restoration - Restoration and celebration of historic music collection
  • KMOJ (Minneapolis) - $62,185
    • Unity of Black History and Arts - A series of interwoven projects that will remind its listeners of African American traditions and history
  • WTIP (Grand Marais) - $5,050
    • Project: Fingerstyle Masters Workshop and Concert Weekend


The Department of Administration's Office of Grants Management works in partnership with state agencies and private organizations to increase public awareness about state grant opportunities, and to streamline and improve state grant-making practices.
