Open Header component

This page contains information on how to create an Open Header component.

To use an Open Header, you'll need an intermediate to advanced knowledge of HTML and CSS. Access to the Open Header is also restricted, so you'll need to submit a ticket to the MNIT Enterprise Web Team requesting access to the component. The web team will also need to point your website template to the new footer.

Creating the Component

Fill out the following fields to make an Open Header component:
1. Name: enter a name for your component here. (This field does not display anywhere on your website, but is used to organize files within Tridion.)
2. Schema: select Open Header
3. Header HTML: enter the code for your header. Please validate the code before entering it.
4. If this is a subsite...: if this is not a subsite, you can leave this field blank. If this is a subsite, please enter the path as described: /site/subsite/ (For example: /deed/ssb/ )
5. Header Alert Banner: if your site has a Header Alert Banner, link to it here. Click the browser folder icon , navigate to the Header Alert Banner component, and select it.
Rendering

The Open Header is not inserted into a page, so it does not have a component template that can be applied to it. Instead, the Open Header component is published directly and applies to every page on the website. In order for this to work properly, the Open Header component must be pointed to in the site template for your website. This is something that the MNIT Enterprise Web Team will need to take care of for you, please submit a ticket for assistance.

As for how the footer will render, we cannot give an exact example as this is tied to the custom footer code you develop.
