Publishing 015 Shared Content

The 015 Shared Content publication is a place where you can create and maintain content that other state agency websites may wish to use as well. This is handy because then if you update the master content in the 015 publication, you can also publish it out to every page that is using the content, ensuring that everything is up to date everywhere.

However, there are some caveats to this that you will want to pay close attention to.

First, locate the component in the 015 Share Content publication that you wish to publish, then right-click on it and select Publishing > Publish.

The publishing pop-up window will appear. Before you click Publish, please click the Show Items to Publish button in the lower left corner of the pop-up.

This will open a pane at the bottom, which shows all the pages that will be published, as shown below.

Please look carefully over all the pages that will be published and consider the following:

  • When you publish the component it will republish everything on the pages shown. Is there anything on those pages that shouldn't get published out just yet? If not, please do not publish.
  • Do you control all the pages that will be published? If not, please contact the agencies that also have this content in their pages and make sure they are okay with the pages being published. If you are unsure who to contact at the other agencies, please contact us and we can help connect you.
  • If you control all the pages that will be published and/or you have connected with the owners of pages on other websites, and are confident that it is okay to publish all of these pages, feel free to proceed with publishing.

Unpublishing 015 Shared Content

Do not unpublish from the 015 Shared Content folder, as this will unpublish all the pages that use this content, resulting in 404 errors and broken links. Instead, please remove the components from each page that use them, and then republish the pages. This will remove the content from the page(s).
