Multimedia components
Multimedia components are used to upload files into, such as .DOC, .DOCX, .XCL, .XCLX, .PPT, .CSS, .JS, etc., into Tridion. Below are instructions for uploading your files.
Tip: If you don't know which component schema is right for your file, just use Default Multimedia Schema - Tridion will figure out your file type for you.
Component Schemas
-
If you have a .CSS file to upload, this is the schema to use. Below are the fields to complete, along with tips for completing them.
- Name: enter a name for your component.
- Schema: select CSS
- Multimedia Type: Cascading style sheets is the only option for this field.
- Resource type: we recommend leaving this field at the default setting Uploaded. You can select either Uploaded or External from the menu:
- Uploaded - if you select this option, a "Load from Disk" button will appear under the drop-down menu. Click this button, navigate to the CSS file you wish to upload, and select it. The file will upload into Tridion. If your file is large, look to the lower left corner of the page to see a status uploading bar, and make sure it gets to 100% before saving and closing the component.
- External - if you select this option, a field will appear below where you can enter the URL that links to the multimedia file on another website. We generally don't recommend using this setting, because you can link to external files from pretty much all other component types in Tridion. Entering it here will complicate your work and add extra steps for changing/removing links.
