Publishing and Unpublishing Pages

This page contains basic information you need to know about publishing and unpublishing pages, one of the basic actions you will need to perform in Tridion.

Publishing Pages

There are two options for publishing a page:

  1. Right-click on the page and select Publishing > Publish
  2. Click once on the page to select it, and then select Publish from the top ribbon

After completing one of the options above, a pop-up window will appear. On the left side of the screen, select the environment(s) that you wish to publish to.

Tip: We recommend always publishing to Staging first, and checking your work, before publishing to Live.

Also, if this is the first time you've published this page, you will also need to republish the Navigation component to get the page to show up in the top and left navigation menus.

Unpublishing Pages

Tip: Unpublishing a page will unpublish the entire page, resulting in a 404 broken link. Do you want to unpublish the entire page, or just remove a piece of content from the page? If you need to remove content, but not the whole page, then simply open the Component Presentations tab of the page and remove the component, and then republish the page rather than unpublishing it.

Just like with publishing pages, there are two options for unpublishing a page:

  1. Right-click on the page and select Publishing > Unpublish
  2. Click once on the page to select it, and then select Unpublish from the top ribbon

After completing one of the options above, a pop-up window will appear. On the left side of the screen, select the environment(s) that you wish to unpublish from.

Tip: If you unpublish a page, you will also need to republish the Navigation component to remove the links to the page from the top and left navigation menus.
