This optional header box, called a Toggle Box, can be used for highlighting whatever content you would like. This is a rich-text field, so you can add links, images, bullets, etc.
Complete the following fields in the Header Alert Banner component:
Name: enter a name for your component here. (This field does not display anywhere on your website, but is used to organize files within Tridion.)
Schema: select Header Alert Banner
Banner Enabled: select "No" if you do not wish to display the banner, or select "Yes" if you do wish to display the banner.
Banner cookie name: enter a unique name each time you update the banner. Please use hyphens instead of spaces, for example: banner-cookie-name
Banner text: enter the content that will show up in your banner. Only basic formatting, such as bold, italics, and links, are permitted.
Alert icon: if you want to have an icon appear alongside your banner text, you can select from the preset Font Awesome icons: (each item below is linked to an example of the icon)
Expiration: enter the number of days that the banner should appear. It will expire from the site after that time frame.
ADVANCED USERS ONLY!: for users familiar with CSS, you can enter stylesheet override commands in these fields. Please design for both desktop and mobile devices.
When you've completed all the fields, Save and Close the component.
Rendering
The Header Alert Banner component is not inserted into a page, so it doesn't have a component template. However, it does need to be inserted into the Header component (as described on the Create a HEader Alert Banner page). The Header component is then published directly and applies the banner to every page on the website. Below is a sampling of how the Header Alert Banner renders.
The Banner text (#5) appears in the center of the banner.
The Alert icon(#6), if one was selected, appears in front of the banner text.
