Joining a meeting for both scheduled Webex Meetings and meetings occurring within a meeting host’s Webex Personal Room, select the join link.
Note: You may encounter a page that alerts you that the meeting organizer has not yet arrived.
The join page will start by announcing the settings currently set for your audio and video. You have not yet joined the meeting. For example, it may say “Cisco Webex Meetings, Unmuted, Video on.” Focus will be on the Start Meeting or Join Meeting button. If you use the enter key at this point, it will connect you to the meeting.
If you would like to change your audio and video settings, the tab key will navigate between the options for audio and video, as well as connecting to a video system.
There will be a button that enables you to enter the meeting, but it will announce your current settings as well as the option to “Start your meeting” or “Join meeting.” For example, it may say “Start meeting, Use computer audio, Unmuted, Video off button to activate press spacebar.”
If after selecting the “Start your meeting” or “Join meeting” button you hear “Connect audio button” it may be still trying to connect you to the meeting. When you hear one of the following it means you have entered the meeting:
Your focus may be above the ribbon with options for Meeting Info and Hide Menu Bar/Show Menu Bar.
F6 will navigate between the areas of the interface, and “hide menu button” is the beginning of the meeting controls. The tab key will enable you to navigate between the meeting control options.
Note: The raise hand feature is covered in the participant panel instructions below.
There is now a Hide Menu Controls option at the beginning of the group of meeting controls (before the mute/unmute button), though you may be placed on the mute/unmute button when you first join a meeting. These controls now remain available unless you use this option to hide the controls. If you accidentally select the hide the controls option, use F6 to return to the “Show Control Bar” option (you may need to select this a few times), then enter to expose the controls.
Use the tab key to navigate between the meeting controls like mute/unmute. Use the spacebar to toggle on and off your audio and video.
To change your settings for each of these options, such as which microphone is being used, there is a settings option after each button. Use space bar to open the options menu (visually a dropdown), then tab to move through the options. Use space bar to make a selection, escape to close the options.
You can mute and unmute your microphone using Ctrl + M.
The participant panel toggle/button is now within the meeting controls, after “end meeting.” To open the panel select space bar.
F6 (not tab) will place focus inside this now open panel. Navigate around the panel using the tab key.
To move between participants, use your up and down arrow keys to move within the list.
The hand raise, chat and mute buttons for each participant are within options next to their name. Use tab to navigate between these options. Enter and spacebar will select them. If you are the meeting host or co-host, use Ctrl + Shift + L to lower another participant’s hand. If you select the chat option, it will open a private chat with that person using the chat panel and place you in the chat message field.
The hand raise option is also available when not inside the participant panel. Use Ctrl + Shift + R to raise or lower your own hand.
To leave this panel, use F6 to navigate between panels, the ribbon of the application, and the meeting controls.
If both the Participant Panel and the Chat Panel are open, use Ctrl + Tab to move to the other open panel.
The chat panel toggle/button is now within the meeting controls, after the participant panel toggle. To open the panel select space bar.
F6 (not tab) will place focus inside this now open panel. Navigate around the panel using the tab key.
If both the Participant Panel and the Chat Panel are open, use Ctrl + Tab to move to the other open panel.
You can toggle on and off your screen reader’s automatic reading of incoming chat messages using Ctrl + Shift + C. When you have the automatic reading toggled off you can be notified that there are messages by placing focus on the Chat Panel button. The first chat message you receive will alert you that there is a message in the chat panel. This will be the only alert you hear until you bring focus into the chat panel.
This option is between the video options button and the record button in the meeting controls. After using space bar, Share Content options become available (though it may not announce that the dialog is open). Tab to the option you would like to select, then select enter.
Once you are sharing, use CTRL + Alt + Shift to get access to the meeting controls. Tab to the option you would like to select (stop sharing is first), then enter.
There are other keyboard shortcuts you can use for sharing your screen. These are listed later in this document, under the Keyboard Shortcuts List heading.
Ctrl + L is the keyboard shortcut for leave meeting/event.
Note: the dialog box that appears when leaving the meeting does not automatically announce that there is a checkbox available within the dialog to select “save meeting files.” If you would like to save the chat from the meeting, you will need to navigate to the checkbox prior to selecting the button(s) for leaving the meeting or event.
