Create a Page Introduction

Create a General Content component

The first step to creating a Page Introduction is to create the General Content component that produces the Page Introduction. 

1. In the 020 section, navigate to the folder where the components for the page with the Page Introduction will reside.
2. Create a new component and complete the following fields:
   1. Name: enter a name for the component here
   2. Schema: select General Content
   3. Title: enter the headline for your page.
   4. Content: enter the text that will go under your headline. If you are creating a basic Page Introduction, the text can be as long as you want. If you are using one of the Page Introductions that have background images, we recommend that your text here be brief.  
   5. Feature Image: this is optional. Select a background image for your Page Introduction.
   6. Feature Image Description: if you added a feature/background image, briefly describe the image in this field.

Save and Close your component.

Create Additional Components (optional)

Page Introductions can sometimes be all you need on the page, or maybe they're just one part of a page. If the latter, you will need to create additional components to fill in the other space on the page. 

Please create those components at this time. 

Create the Page

1. In the 050 section, navigate to (or create) the structure group where the page will reside.
2. Create a new page.
3. Fill in the Name, File Name, Page Display Name, Dublin Core Title, and Dublin Core Description fields.
4. For the Page Template field, select the page template for your page. Page Introductions work on almost all page templates, as shown in the table at the bottom of this page.
5. Click the Design tab.
6. Click the Add button:
   1. Navigate to the General Content component you created in step 1, select it, apply one of these component templates, and insert it into the page:
      • Page Introduction - this displays a simple headline and accompanying text.
      • Page Introduction - Feature Image (black text bar) - this displays a Page Introduction with a background image, and a black text bar over the image with the headline and accompanying text. The left navigation is to the side of the Page Introduction.
      • Page Introduction - Feature Image (white text bar) - this displays a Page Introduction with a background image, and a white text bar over the image with the headline and accompanying text. The left navigation is to the side of the Page Introduction.
      • Page Introduction - Jumbo Feature Image (black text bar) - this displays a Page Introduction with a background image, and a black text bar over the image with the headline and accompanying text. The left navigation is under the Page Introduction.
      • Page Introduction - Jumbo Feature Image (white text bar) - this displays a Page Introduction with a background image, and a white text bar over the image with the headline and accompanying text. The left navigation is under the Page Introduction.
   2. Navigate to any additional components you created in step 4, and insert them with the appropriate component templates in the appropriate order.
7. Close the Insert Component Presentation pop-up window.
8. Save and Close your page.

Publish the Page

When you've completed all the steps above, then all you need to do next is publish your page. 

In the 050 section, navigate to the page you built in step 3, right-click and select Publishing > Publish.

Select the site you wish to publish to and click Publish. This will send the page to the publishing queue.

Verify the page looks like you want it to, and edit/republish as needed.
