With Minnesota state agencies coming on board with Yammer and using it as their means of connecting socially and professionally with one another, some are asking to have that presence represented in their social media links in the footer.

As a standard across all our Tridion 2013 sites, we have chosen the vector-based font icon library Font Awesome as our means of presenting icons, social media logos, and common graphics in a manner that is scalable, easy to format, and loads quickly once cached in the user's browser session.

Unfortunately Font Awesome does not have an actual Yammer icon in its library yet, and has multiple requests in their GitHub issue tracker for adding that icon to the available list of social media options. So until they do, we've chosen a Y icon in a rounded box —   — which is the nearest neighbor to the actual Yammer icon.

How do I get this to work in my footer?

Simple:  just add your yammer link in the list of social media links in the footer component and the jQuery script processing those footer links will do the rest.  As long as "yammer.com" is somewhere in that URL, the script will automatically create the icon, put in the word "Yammer" for screen readers, and present your link amidst the rest of your social media links.
