New flexible page layout for home pages now available
Time to stop using that old home page template

You're likely still using the old home page layout for your website's main home page. That page layout was only intended to be an interim option until a more flexible and solid option became available. Its with great pride that we're introducing the new replacement page template: "Main Landing Page - Flexible Layout".
This new page template offers a wide variety of flexibility for laying out your content as well as re-using existing components, too. Each row of "flex content" can be configured for the number of columns you want, how those columns are divided (e.g. thirds, quarters, etc.), and what color formatting you want for that row (dark, white, or your branding color). Each row of flex content is configured using a new content type called "Main Landing Page - New Row".
Setting up a row of content is quite simple, actually. There are only three fields in the New Row content type: an optional headline to precede your columns of content, a layout configuration (a select box with an ASCII text representation of how that content will be presented — select the ASCII diagram that represents the option you want), and the color option for that row (dark, white, and branded).
After you've saved that component at your 020 level, go ahead and insert that into your home page (make sure you have "Main Landing Page - Flexible Layout" selected as the page template) and then insert the number of components you selected for your layout (if your layout is two columns, insert two components; if three columns, insert three components, etc.). You are limited to four columns and must have a matching number of components to your row configuration.
Presently the Main Landing Page - Flexible Layout supports the following schemas: General Content, Home Content, Article, Multimedia Gallery Item, and Code Block. Each of those schemas have one or more supported component presentations (such as "Feature Rotator - default dark"). Full documentation will be available soon, including what content types are supported, which templates will work on that page, and what fields display with each of those templates.
It may be a lot to swallow at first, but we have both a cheat sheet and YouTube training videos in the works to help make the leap to this new flexible content page type easier! Stay tuned for more information to come! We think that you're going to like this new page type!
