Create Flex Spotlights

Create a headline and introduction for the page

 The first step to creating a page with Flex Spotlights is to create a Page Introduction, which contains the headline and introductory text for the page. 

1. In the 020 section, navigate to the folder where the components for the page with the Page Introduction will reside.
2. Create a new component and complete the following fields:
   1. Name: enter a name for the component here
   2. Schema: select General Content
   3. Title: enter the headline for your page.
   4. Content: enter the text that will go under your headline. If you are creating a basic Page Introduction, the text can be as long as you want. If you are using one of the Page Introductions that have background images, we recommend that your text here be brief.  
   5. Feature Image: this is optional. Select a background image for your Page Introduction.
   6. Feature Image Description: if you added a feature/background image, briefly describe the image in this field.

Save and Close your component.

Create Flex Spotlights

Now create the Flex Spotlights that will appear under the Page Introduction: 

1. In the 020 section, navigate to the folder where the components for the page will reside.
2. Create a new component and complete the following fields:
   1. Name: enter a name for the component here
   2. Schema: select Flex Spotlight
   3. Headline: enter the headline for your flex spotlight.
   4. Image (optional): if your spotlight will have a thumbnail image, click the browse folder icon , navigate to the image you wish to use, and select it.   
   5. Rich-text copy: enter a brief description for the flex spotlight.
   6. Component link...: if you're linking this flex spotlight to another page within your website, click the browse folder icon , navigate to a component that's included in the page you wish to link to, and select that component.
   7. ...Destination URL: if you're linking to another website, enter the URL for that site or page here.
   8. Which do you want to display first...?: if you've used a thumbnail image in your flex spotlight, select whether the image or the headline should appear on top of the the flex spotlight.

Save and Close your component.

Repeat these steps for each Flex Spotlight you need to create.

Create Flex Row Configurations

Since Flex Spotlights can only be used in Flex Layout pages, you will need to create Flex Row Configuration components for your page. Please refer to the page on Flex Row Configuration components, to learn more about options for laying out your page.

Create additional components

You may wish to create additional components for your page to complete your flex rows, but you do not have to. If you need to, create the additional components at this time. Here is more information on possible component types you may want to include in your page:

• General Content
• Article List Spotlights
• Code Block

Create the page

1. In the 050 section, navigate to (or create) the structure group where the page will reside.
2. Create a new page.
3. Fill in the Name, File Name, Page Display Name, Dublin Core Title, and Dublin Core Description fields.
4. For the Page Template field, select either:
   1. Flex Layout - Main Landing Page: this is a flex page without a left navigation. We recommend only using this page template for website home pages.  
   2. Flex Layout - Internal Page: this is a flex page with a left navigation.
5. Click the Design tab.
6. Click the Add button:
   1. Navigate to the General Content component you created in step 1, select it, apply one of the Page Introduction component templates, and insert it into the page.
   2. Navigate to any Flex Row Configuration components you created in step 3, and insert them into the page.
   3. Navigate to any Flex Spotlight components you created in step 2, and insert them with the appropriate component templates (either Flex Spotlight with H2 or H3 Headings) in the appropriate order.
   4. Navigate to any additional components you created in step 3, and insert them with the appropriate component templates.
7. Close the Insert Component Presentation pop-up window.
8. Make sure your components are ordered to match the Flex Row Configuration settings, as described on the Flex Row Configuration component page. Move your components around in the page as needed.
9. Save and Close your page.

Publish the page

When you've completed all the steps above, then all you need to do next is publish your page. 

In the 050 section, navigate to the page you built, right-click and select Publishing > Publish.

Select the site you wish to publish to and click Publish. This will send the page to the publishing queue.

Verify the page looks like you want it to, and edit/republish as needed.

Remember to republish the navigation each time you add a new page to your website.
