Stop Cybersecurity Attacks on Your Mobile Phone and Protect Your Data

1/22/2025 9:43:23 AM

Here are some important steps you can take to safeguard your personal information from the increasing number of online hacking and scam attacks:

  • Use a secure messaging app with end-to-end encryption, like Signal, for private communication.
  • Avoid relying on SMS for two-factor authentication, as it isn’t encrypted.
  • Enable phishing-resistant authentication methods, such as Google Titan.
  • Use a trusted password manager like Apple Passwords, LastPass, or Google Password to store your passwords safely.
  • Set up a security PIN for an extra layer of protection whenever possible.
  • Regularly update your software, hardware, and apps to stay protected from vulnerabilities.
  • Avoid using a virtual private network (VPN), as they can be more easily targeted by attacks.

See the Mobile Best Practice Guidance issued by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) for more information.
