The Minnesota Data Practices Act requires the Minnesota Department of Commerce to keep all government data in a way that makes it easy for you, as a member of the public, to access public data. Here are instructions on how to obtain that data.

The Minnesota Department of Commerce must keep all government data in a way that makes it easy for you to access data about you. Also, we can collect and keep only those data about you that we need for administering and managing programs that are permitted by law.

You may order a list of licensees regulated by Commerce (e.g. Real Estate Appraisers) through the Mailing List Services published by the State of Minnesota, Department of Administration’s Minnesota Bookstore.
Why don’t agencies provide lists of licensees through a data practices request?
For insurance rates, forms, or health plan binder filings submitted to Commerce by insurance companies, public information is available on the SERFF Access website.
If a licensee is an individual who has contested the accuracy or completeness of any public data on him- or herself that is published on any web site maintained by Commerce, then any Statement of Disagreement submitted by this individual to Commerce pursuant to Minn. Stat. 13.04, subd. 4(a) will be available here while the data is in dispute.
