The Automobile Theft Prevention Program is a structured initiative aimed at reducing the incidence of vehicle theft. This program involves a combination of public awareness campaigns, community outreach, law enforcement efforts, and funding technological solutions to deter thieves and recover stolen vehicles.
The Automobile Theft Prevention Program exists to facilitate combatting auto theft. This is being accomplished by:
- Developing and sponsoring the implementation of statewide plans, programs, and strategies to combat auto theft.
- Improving the administration of auto theft laws.
- Providing a forum for the identification of critical problems for the persons dealing with automobile theft.
A key component of the Automobile Theft Prevention program is the administration of the Auto Theft Grant Program to county attorney's offices, law enforcement agencies, neighborhood organizations, community organizations, and business organizations that are committed to combatting auto theft.
The Commerce Fraud Bureau also supports law enforcement efforts to curb auto theft by providing an Equipment Lending Library. For more information about this program please email us.
