The Minnesota Climate Innovation Finance Authority benefits from partnerships at the national, state and local levels.
National Partnerships:
The Coalition for Green Capital (CGC) has led the green bank movement for over a decade, working at the federal, state and local levels. MnCIFA is a member of this national green bank network, which is chartered as the American Green Bank Consortium, a 501©(3) national green bank.
U.S. Green Bank 50 (GB50) is a new organization bringing together green banks across the nation to lead a historic wave of clean energy and climate investment in American communities, including green banks in nearly all 50 states, including Minnesota, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.
MnCIFA’s collaborations with CGC and GB50 are providing additional capital financing options, as well as advice and resources for establishing operational structures and community engagement.
State Partnerships:
MnCIFA has joined the Governor’s Climate Change Subcabinet as an advisory state agency, to advance Minnesota’s Climate Action Framework. Among MnCIFA’s contributions to the Framework:
- We are helping to finance the transition to cleaner energy resources.
- We are supporting buildings that are more energy efficient and use cleaner energy.
- We are building resilient, equitable communities.
- We are contributing to a clean economy.
Local Partnerships:
- MnCIFA consults with lending authorities, state agencies, utilities, environmental and energy policy nonprofits, labor organizations, philanthropic organizations, contractors, and other organizations that can provide valuable advice on its activities.
- MnCIFA may establish partnerships as appropriate, for example, with mission-aligned lenders and community organizations.
- MnCIFA will work with local organizations to consider and act on community-specific needs.
- Partners may also include regional development commissions, non-profits, community banks, credit unions, and CDFIs who can lend in smaller amounts than MnCIFA’s minimum loan to single entities.
